Vision for the Future: Progress Update

Since announcing our expansion plans on National Train Day 2025, the Ohio Railway Museum has transformed into a hub of activity. Visitors will notice ongoing maintenance projects, guest experience improvements, and active restoration work throughout the property. Our volunteer base continues to grow, which is crucial for an all-volunteer organization like ours. If you haven't visited recently, you'll be amazed by the progress we've made. We look forward to welcoming you back, because alongside our dedicated volunteers, you are essential to our success.

Progress continues at the former Silcott Yard, with significant debris now removed. The historic Pennsylvania Railroad Freight House is now clearly visible. Alongside the Pennsylvania Railroad Freight House, our volunteers are hard at work on the pumpkin patch. Inside the former Pennsylvania Railroad Freight House in Worthington, Ohio, we are hard at work shoring up the structure in preparation for its eventual restoration. Linemen are hard at work at the Ohio Railway Museum, installing new poles for the future double track through the old Silcott Yard. Beautiful flowers bloom in the Ohio Railway Museum's pollinator garden.

Testimonials

★★★★★

"It may not be the biggest or most extensive heritage railroad/museum out there, but the equipment shown off is fascinating, the tram ride was fun, even if a little short, and the staff were friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the locomotives and rolling stock. If I lived close enough I'd absolutely volunteer, and if you live within an hour of Worthington Ohio, you should too!"

"What a great little museum! One of the oldest rail museums in the US, they have a great collection of Ohio transportation history. The trolley ride was great, and all the staff was able to answer any questions we had about the equipment. You are able to walk through a bunch of the cars and the trains, along with the displays inside the museum. A great afternoon for the young and young at heart."
