The Columbus Railway, Power & Light (CRP&L) No. 703 was a streetcar that served Columbus, Ohio, from 1926 to 1948. Built by the G.C. Kuhlman Car Co., it featured a robust and elegant design, measuring just over 31 feet long, 8.5 feet wide, and 11 feet tall. With a seating capacity of 48 passengers, it was a vital part of the city’s public transportation system. The restoration of No. 703 highlights the dedication to preserving this piece of history.
Ted's dedicated efforts on No. 703 continue to show remarkable progress. The end frame has been meticulously rebuilt and primed, providing a solid foundation for the next stages of restoration. While the panels have been temporarily placed back on for the photo, they will soon be removed again for bodywork and painting. Josh is preparing to fit the glass, and all the woodwork on this end will receive several coats of paint to ensure durability and a polished finish. Progress may be slow, but steady strides are being made. Meanwhile, Max and Gary are gearing up to overhaul the electrical system. This critical step will determine any additional work required before the car is ready for test movement. Stay tuned for further updates as this project unfolds!
